Activities on Koh Chang
The south of Koh Chang has a striking undersea environment, especilally around Koh Kra, Koh Rang, or Koh Wai. It is very popular for diving due to the pristine coral reefs, and its plenitude of scaly giant clams and other colorful marine species. Diving packages at these islands are available at Had Sai Khao (White Sand Beach) Had Klong Prao and Had Kai Bae, costing around 350-600 Baht a day. Large groups of travelers can rent a boat from Ban Klong Son, Ban Bang Bao or Ban Salakphet for approximately 3,000 Baht a day.
Canoe or Rafting:
Popular spots for this enjoyable activity are Had Sai Khao (White Sand Beach) Had Klong Prao, Had Kai Bae, at Had Klong Prao in particular, tourists can also raft among mangrove forests along two sides of the beach. The rental rate is around 150 Baht per hour, or 600 Baht for one whole day.
Fishing:
Those keen of fishing should not miss a trip to Chaiyachet Cape, or sail out to nearby islands, such as Koh Mai Si, Koha Khlum, Koh Wai. Boats can be rented at Baan Bang Bao, Baan Salak Phet and Baan Klong Son for 1,000 - 1,500 Baht.
Biking:
Biking to several attractions on the island yields the closest observation of nature. There are many interesting trails. For example, you can start from Had Sai Khao, going on to Chaiyachet Cape, Klong Plu Waterfall, Ban Klong Prao community, Ao Bai Lan and end the trip at Baan Bang Bao. Another route starts from Had Sai Khao, passing Ao Sapparot, Baan Dan Kao, Wat Klong Nonsi, Thanmayom Waterfall adn terminates at Baan Rong Than.
